Japan and Colombia Sign Investment Protection Agreement

Japan and Colombia have signed an Agreement for the Promotion and Reciprocal Protection of Investments.  Under the terms of the agreement, each country will give foreign investors the same treatment that is provided to country nationals.  The agreement is viewed as an important first step toward the execution of a broader Economic Cooperation Agreement.

According to the Global Competitiveness Report 2011-2012 published by the World Economic Forum, Chile, Peru and Colombia each received the top ranking in inflation control.

Chilean Investment in Peru Could Exceed US $2 Billion

Chilean investment in Peru is forecasted to reach a record amount of US $2 billion in 2011.  Currently there are reportedly more than 200 Chilean companies present in Peru, attracted by strong Peruvian economic growth rates and comparatively lower costs.

Peruvian Mining Exports Increase 40.7% in July

Mining exports in Peru increased 40.7% in July compared with July of 2010.  Key mining exports included iron, lead, silver, zinc and gold.
