The principal index of the Santiago Stock Exchange, the Selective Stock Price Index (IPSA), closed on Wednesday down 1.14% at 4,119.12 points.

August Brazil FDI Reaches 7 Year High

In August, Foreign Direct Investment in Brazil reached US $5.6 billion, the highest level in August in 7 years.  Over the last 12 months FDI amounted to US $75.370 billion.

Dollar Reaches 13 Month High Against Chilean Peso

Following the US Fed bond exchange announcement and a more than 5% drop in copper prices, the US Dollar advanced 21 Pesos against Chile’s currency, reaching sale offers of $521.3.  This is the US Dollar’s highest level against the Chilean Peso in the last 13 months.

Latin America Regional Growth in 2011 Forecasted at 4.5%

According to the World Economic Outlook published by the International Monetary Fund, economic growth for the Latin America and Caribbean region for 2011 is forecasted at 4.5%.  Growth for 2012 is forecasted at 4.0%.
